None of it is required. All of it opens doors.
Where the kitchen met the bar
As mixologists took more cues from the world's best kitchens, a few pieces of culinary equipment migrated behind the bar. You can make excellent drinks without any of it, but several recipes in this collection lean on them.
The three worth knowing
Immersion blender. Fast and versatile, and now a fixture in avant-garde drink making wherever something needs emulsifying or puréeing on the spot.
Sous-vide machine. The precision of a water bath makes infusions reliable and repeatable instead of a guessing game. Far from necessary, but it opens a wide door.
Rotary evaporator. Familiar to anyone with a lab background. Bartenders use these to pull small batches of bespoke spirits, producing flavors that genuinely can't be bought.
