Affiliate disclosure
Some links here pay us a commission. Here is which ones, how much it costs you, and what it changes.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
What that means in practice
Whiptronics LLC is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. When you follow an Amazon link from this site, the link carries a tag identifying it as ours. If you then buy something that qualifies, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale.
You pay the same price either way. The commission comes out of Amazon’s margin, not out of your pocket, and using one of these links never costs you more than going to Amazon directly.
Amazon does not tell us who clicked or what any particular person bought. We see totals — how many items of a kind sold in a period — and nothing that identifies a visitor. See Privacy for what happens to your information once you land on Amazon, which is governed by Amazon’s policies rather than ours.
Where the paid links are
Every paid link on this site is one of these, and each is marked where it appears rather than only here:
- Stock up — bar tools, bottles and ingredients. The required disclosure sits above the first link on that screen.
- The party shopping list — the same Stock up links, reached from a finished plan in Party Mode, on the same screen and under the same disclosure.
- A tool on a recipe — tapping a tool under a drink opens a short panel saying what that tool is, with one link to it. The required disclosure sits in the panel, under the button. It is the same link Stock up uses for the same tool.
- The reading list in About — the six books the collection was checked against. Each is labelled “(paid link)”.
- NON — one link to their shop of alcohol-free wine alternatives, in About’s funding section. It goes through Awin rather than Amazon, and the sentence beside it says a purchase pays us.
- Monvane — one text link to their shop, at the end of About’s funding section. It goes through Awin, and the sentence beside it says a purchase supports us.
- La Saum — olive brine. One text link in About’s funding section, and the buy button on the Olive brine row in Stock up, which the party shopping list shares. Both go through Awin, and each placement carries its own disclosure.
Alcoholic drinks are deliberately absent from that list. Spirits, liqueurs and wine mostly cannot be shipped through Amazon in the US, so the app says “local store” instead of linking — there is no bottle of alcohol on this site that earns us anything. The only shops here that sell bottles are NON and La Saum, and what they sell, wine alternatives and olive brine, is alcohol-free.
What a commission does not buy
The shopping links are generated from what a recipe already calls for. When a drink needs lime juice, the app builds a link for lime juice; it does not choose the drink, and no recipe was added, promoted, reordered or described differently because of what it might earn. The recipes came out of the books listed in About and were written before any of these links existed.
Where a specific product has actually been looked at, the link points at it. Where one has not, the link is an ordinary Amazon search, because a search cannot quietly rot into pointing at the wrong thing. Neither kind is a claim that the item is the best one available, or that anybody has tested it for you.
The retailer, not us
We do not sell anything through this site and we are not the seller in any of these transactions. Prices, availability, descriptions, photographs, shipping, delivery estimates, returns, warranties, customer service, terms and privacy practices all belong to the retailer. A problem with an order has to go to them; we cannot look it up, change it, or refund it. Prices and availability shown on Amazon at the time of purchase are the ones that apply.
NON
Whiptronics LLC takes part in NON’s affiliate programme through the Awin network. The NON link in About’s funding section goes to NON’s U.S. store through an Awin address that identifies the visit as ours. If you then buy something, NON pays us a commission, and you pay the same price either way.
NON is not in the ingredient list, the pantry, any recipe, or the party planner, and nothing on this site says a NON bottle is the right substitute for a particular cocktail ingredient. The link is kept deliberately outside everything the app calculates. As with Amazon, we are not told who clicked or what any individual bought.
Monvane
Whiptronics LLC also takes part in Monvane’s affiliate programme through Awin. Monvane sells modular sofas and sectionals, which have nothing to do with drinks. There is one Monvane link on this site, a text link at the end of About’s funding section, and it goes to Monvane’s shop through an Awin address that identifies the visit as ours. If you then buy something, Monvane pays us a commission, and you pay the same price either way.
It is not a recommendation: nobody here has used their furniture, and there is no other Monvane link, not in Stock up, any recipe, or the party planner. Awin tells us a sale happened and what it paid. It does not tell us who you are.
La Saum
Whiptronics LLC also takes part in La Saum’s affiliate programme through Awin. La Saum sells olive brine. There are two La Saum links on this site: a text link in About’s funding section, and the buy button on the Olive brine row in Stock up, which appears there when your bar is missing it, as any other ingredient would. Both go to La Saum through an Awin address that identifies the visit as ours. If you then buy something, La Saum pays us a commission, and you pay the same price either way.
It is not a review: nobody here has tasted their brine, and the link does not change which drinks call for olive brine or where that row sits in the list. Awin tells us a sale happened and what it paid. It does not tell us who you are.
The other two ways this site earns
Neither is an affiliate relationship, but they belong on a page about how the site is funded. Tips go through Ko-fi to Whiptronics LLC; they are entirely optional, they change nothing about what you get, and because they go to a company they are not tax-deductible donations. Merchandise is our own shop, printed and shipped by Printful — that is a sale by us rather than a commission from somebody else’s.
There is no advertising on this site, no sponsored content, no paid placement, and nobody has paid to appear here. If that ever changes it will be said plainly, in the place it applies, before it ships.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you think a link should be marked and is not, please write to mixologybywhip@whiptronicsllc.com. A link that earns and does not say so is a bug, and it will be treated as one.
