Plain terms for a free reference site. Please read the drinking-age and safety sections.

Who provides this site

Mixology by Whip is operated by Whiptronics LLC, a Utah limited liability company. Using the site means these terms apply to that use. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

What this site is

It is an informational and educational reference about cocktails: recipes, techniques, glassware and ingredients, plus tools that help you plan what to buy and make. It is free, it has no accounts, and it is offered as a reference — not as professional advice of any kind.

Legal drinking age

The alcoholic content on this site is intended for people who are of legal drinking age where they live. If you are not, please use the zero-proof setting, which hides everything alcoholic, or do not use the site. We do not collect your birthday and we do not verify anyone’s age; the drinking-age notice records only that it was shown on that device.

You are responsible for following the law where you are. Rules on buying, serving, carrying and consuming alcohol differ by country, state and city, and a recipe on this site is not a statement that making or serving it is lawful where you happen to be. Please never drive, or let anyone else drive, after drinking.

Recipes, quantities and estimates

Recipe amounts, strength impressions, serving counts and shopping quantities are informational estimates. Party Mode’s arithmetic tells you how much liquid a number of servings needs; it says nothing about how much anyone should drink, and it is not a safety calculation. Nothing on this site calculates blood alcohol content or tells you whether it is safe to drive — we will not build that, because a number like that would be trusted, and it should not be.

Follow ordinary kitchen safety. Some preparations here involve heat, open flame, pressurised equipment, raw ingredients or long infusions; the pages that describe them carry their own cautions, and those cautions are part of the recipe rather than decoration. Check ingredients against your own allergies and dietary needs — we cannot know them.

No medical or health advice

Nothing here is medical, nutritional, or health advice, and nothing here treats, prevents or cures anything. Descriptions of drinks are descriptions of drinks. If you are pregnant, taking medication, or have a health condition, talk to a doctor about alcohol rather than a cocktail site.

Recipes you write, and things you save

Anything you write or save in the app stays in your browser — see Privacy. We never receive it, so we claim no rights over it, cannot moderate it, and cannot restore it if your browser clears it. Export a backup from Settings if it matters to you.

Our content

A recipe’s ingredients and proportions are facts, and facts are not ours to own. The writing, descriptions, lessons, design, artwork, code and the arrangement of the collection are ours or used with permission, and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to use this site the way anyone uses a reference: read it, make the drinks, print a page, tell people about it, link to it. Please do not republish substantial parts of the writing as your own, scrape the collection wholesale, or pass the site off as somebody else’s.

Brand and product names appear here to identify ingredients, glassware and historical recipes. Those names belong to their owners, and their use here is not a claim of affiliation with or endorsement by them. Neither is a recipe’s association with a bartender, bar or brand a claim that they endorse this site. If you own a mark or a piece of writing and believe it has been used incorrectly here, please write to mixologybywhip@whiptronicsllc.com and we will correct it.

Shops and links

Some links go to other companies, and some of them pay us a commission — the full arrangement is on the affiliate disclosure page. We do not sell anything ourselves through this site, we do not control those retailers, and their prices, stock, shipping, returns, terms and privacy practices are theirs. A purchase you make is a contract between you and them, not with us.

Reasonable use

Please do not attack the site or the infrastructure it runs on, try to break or bypass its security, or use it to break the law or to harm someone. Beyond that, use it.

As-is, and the limits of what we owe you

This site is provided free and as-is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We work hard on accuracy and we fix what is reported to us, but we do not warrant that every recipe, measurement, technique, estimate or historical note is correct, or that the site will always be available or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Whiptronics LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of this site. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, and where that is so, this paragraph applies only as far as it lawfully can and the rest of these terms still stand. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes, and getting in touch

These terms may change as the site does; the date below moves when they do, and continuing to use the site after a change means the new version applies. Questions, corrections and complaints all go to the same place: mixologybywhip@whiptronicsllc.com. A real person reads it.
